~Vibrant Summer Maxi~

Hey Everybody!!
I know I have been gone for awhile and I apologize. I am taking summer classes and they are very time consuming. It makes sense since I’m taking 2 normal 15 week courses in 6 weeks.
Today I thought I’d do an OOTD! I wore a maxi dress and this was my first time wearing a dress to a non-formal class environment. When I think maxi dress I think “awesome, great coverage with no effort…” WRONG!!!  The dress was hard to deal with and I had to be more cautious of not exposing my legs even though I was wearing tights underneath. Other than the whole dilemma with the leg exposure I really loved my outfit today. I felt really girly, summery and overall in a really happy, sunny mood. I guess it’s good to dress in bright fun colors sometimes.
I really liked that this dress encompassed the color-blocking trend!

I don't know if you can see the colors but it's purple, yellow, turquoise, and then purple again.

When ever I wear this cardigan someone tells me I'm wearing it the worng way. But I'm not it's made like that.

Dress: Rainbow
Cardigan: Aeropostle
Shoes: Target

I wore a long sleeved purple shirt underneath and a purple hijab!

~Staying Cool~

Hey There,

I know I have been gone for awhile and I am sorry for that. Finals are over and summer session will start soon. I really didn’t want to take classes during the summer but I have to if I want to graduate sooner.

The weather has been getting hotter and hotter. This is my first summer wearing hijab and I decided to share with you guys some ways you can stay cool in this heat.

1) Wear lighter colored hijabs. Try colors like white, and light pastels. Stay away from black!!! And any other dark colors. If you do wear dark colors the sun will be attracted to your head like a magnet.

2) Use thinner hijabs. You might have to wrap it twice to get good coverage but its way better the wrapping a thick pashmina.

3) Wrap loosely around the neck area. This will allow for cool air to get in.

4) Lose the under cap/bonnet if you can.

5) Wear long sleeved shirts. This is better then layering on top after top to make something hijab friendly. One long sleeved shirt that covers everything is going to keep you cooler compared to wearing a long sleeved shirt under a top or a cardigan over a top. More layers the hotter you’ll be.

6) Wear loose cargo pants, or skirts instead of jeans. Jeans are thicker and darker!

7) Use sunscreen and beware of the hijab tan line. I speak from experience when we went on vacation I got a tan line on my forehead half my face was lighter then the rest!!!!

8) Drink and Carry water. I know this is obvious but people forget water is better then soda, or other sugary drinks!!!

Hope these help!!

~I need Another Vacation~

Hey Ya‘ll,

I seriously need another vacation this month May is hectic being Finals month! I decided to take a little break and decided today would be great to talk about my spring break. Someone guessed I went to Florida and they were correct! It was nice we went to both universals parks, the beach and a Disney park.

I really enjoyed Universals mainly Islands of Adventures you might have guessed why by now because they just opened the Wizarding World section. I really loved that section they had the Hogwarts express, Hogsmeade, and Diagon Alley. Hogwarts Castle was really great the pictures actually moved and talked to us!! My favorite ride was the Forbidden Journey which was like you flying around Hogwarts with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Different creatures came also like Dementors and Dragons which was scary. A Dementor tried to kiss me (which is how they suck out your soul) and I’m such a nerd I screamed “Expecto Patronum” but nothing happened because I’m not a wizard. Harry ended up saving me. I really loved it but the line was really long so I couldn’t go again.

It was a big change being in Florida. Someone had told me snakes and gators come up the pipes and out the toilet into the house. So I had been really scared something like that would happen but it didn’t. I saw a gecko (I think that’s what it was looked like the geico gecko but less green) and it was on a tree and then another huge lizard came and ate it. That was so sad.

We drove there so we stopped in Georgia for breakfast and everybody stared at us because we were the only brown people there. It was also probably because of my hijab. Our waitress had such a cute accent she was like “What will ya’ll like?” lol

It was my first time in hijab in a hot place and it wasn’t bad at all. When we were at the beach I felt cool because I was wearing a light colored hijab. My aunt (not really my aunt) ended up wrapping a towel around her head to block the sun.

I really enjoyed the vacation but I can’t imagine living in Florida or Georgia its way to hot, and quiet for me. I should get back to studying.

Thanks for reading!

~Why don’t you take your phone and throw it away~

Hello Ladies,
Nowadays everybody texts I mean everybody. Texting is great really it is I even do it. But I don’t know if you guys have that friend who loves to text. This friend of mine is ALWAYS texting ALWAYS. This is great if you’re bored in class and need to talk to somebody you know for sure this friend will respond or maybe it’s an emergency and you need to ask this friend something well you are guaranteed a response.
But, if you haven’t seen this friend in person in awhile and you guys finally find time to hang out and talk and you guys are catching up but this friend is looking down at her phone and texting the whole time what’s the point of meeting up? You could have just texted this conversation. I mean who is so important that you must reply to them this very minute? Not only is it rude and annoying but it makes you think am I not important enough to get some face time? I especially get annoyed when they ask you a question and you reply and 5 seconds later they ask you the same question or they say sorry I didn’t hear your reply. Like seriously, are you kidding me.
And then there are the people who are so annoying they must text at the movies. It’s freaking dark in there and if you take out your phone to text everybody is going to see. I went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with some of my friends and cousins and if you guys don’t already know I’m a Harry Potter maniac and I am like so into the books and movies and I really get into the story and one of my cousins is a crazy texter she texts in her sleep no joke. So we are watching HP7 the scene where Harry jumps into the lake to get Gryffindor’s sword and then Ron saves him. And during this scene my cousin takes out her phone and starts texting. She was sitting right next to me and the light is like all up on my face and I kicked her to make her stop and she’s like “sorry but, omg my friend just texted me that Dobby is going to die!” And my friend on my other side who hasn’t read the books heard and got mad because she just ruined the movie for her and the people behind us asked my cousin to please put her phone away because they were annoyed by her phone’s light. All this drama because my cousin felt the need to text during a movie.
So the purposes of this post is if you are with people hanging out or at the movies please don’t text because it’s rude and annoying.

Guess The Quote:
"Those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well."- Who said it? (Hint: Intials are A.D.)

~Drifting Apart~

Salam peoples,

I know I said I was going to talk about my trip in my next post but I don’t feel in the mood to discuss it today so I will save that for another post. I realized something today and felt the need to write about it. I know as you grow you change and relationships change as well. I’ve seen all the movies about all the people who used to be really good friends but now aren’t because they have grown apart. I’ve had really great friends that I don’t talk much to anymore because we aren’t that great friends but I never thought my relationship with my cousin would change like that too!

My cousin and I have been very close since we were very young she was like my sister we did everything together told each other secrets and she understood all the stuff I was facing because we were from the same family so we had to deal with the same issues. But, now I feel like we have drifted apart we don’t care about the same things and we rarely talk nowadays. Before we were always on the phone but now we never are and if we are on the phone we don’t talk more then 2 seconds. We always say we’ll text each other but there is only a limited amount of stuff that can be discussed through text. With friends if they don’t make the effort to stay friends I don’t bother but I feel like my cousin was more important to me and I was in denial that we were growing apart. I realized today we are and I have no better word to describe the feeling I feel other then sad. So yea, I feel sad really sad, that we don’t know each other as we did before. But I also realized both of us have been through different things in life and that has changed us into different people and that is why our relationship has changed. We probably won’t be as close as before but she is still my cousin and will still be there.

Whoa!! I just ranted off about this enough and feel much better getting this off my mind!

Its interesting to see my poll results in the side bar..I assumed more people would like patterened hijabs but plain won =] I understand why though plain hijabs can be worn with anything and are more professional looking..But, I still like my funky patterend hijabs =] Check out my new poll and vote!!

Thanks for reading. TTYL
